NEW YORK CITY – Days after drenching rains left straphangers wading through subway stations filled with waist-high water and motorists trapped on deluged city roads, another flood watch is in place.

A series of thunderstorms are taking aim on the city, starting Monday afternoon and stretching into Tuesday, the National Weather Service said.

They could hit an already soaked city with as much as three inches of water.

A thunderstorm that hit last Thursday caused chaos as fast-falling water hit a transit system unable to cope, particularly Uptown. In Washington Heights, social media showed video of waterfalls pouring into subway stations and passengers wading through filthy water to get to trains.

In The Bronx, motorists had to be rescued by cops after vehicles became trapped in the water. The FDR drive was also flooded and Grand Central and Penn stations badly affected by the water.
