NYC Weather Forecast: 67-Degree Heat, 'Severe' Thunderstorms Possible Later In The Week

The National Weather Service cautioned New Yorkers that Wednesday could bring 'severe' thunderstorms with the possible for 'damaging' wind.

NEW YORK, NY — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the rest of the week, cautioning New Yorkers that the city could see "severe thunderstorms" on Wednesday afternoon with the potential for "damaging wind gusts." The weather service issued the outlook for Wednesday, in preparation for a storm system currently threatening the East Coast.

"There is a chance for severe thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon and evening, with the main threat being from damaging wind gusts," the outlook said.

The first day of March is expected to bring warm temps before it could give way to the storms. Temperatures could heat up to 67 degrees by Wednesday afternoon.

The next day should be significantly cooler (and less wet). Thursday is expected to be "breezy" and "mostly sunny, with a high near 50," forecasters said.

Incredibly, Friday's high temp is predicted drop significantly to 40 degrees with a chance of light snow, according to the weather service.
