NYC Weather Forecast: Air Quality Alert Issued; Temps Will Pass 90 Again

NEW YORK, NY — It's going to be another scorcher in New York City today as temperatures are expected to hit at least 90 degrees for the third day in a row.

And with the intense heat comes an "Air Quality Alert" from the National Weather Service, warning of increased levels of pollution and telling sensitive people to stay indoors.

While pollution levels are increased, the Service says people should "consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects."

The warning continues: "People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young and those with pre existing respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician."

While temperatures will be in the low 90s, "The humidity will make it feel warmer for most areas, with heat index values in excess of 95 possible in the metro area," the National Weather Service says.
