NEW YORK, NY — After a somewhat fussy and rainy Christmas Eve, the NYC metro area is in for a clear, sunny yet relatively cool Christmas Day in 2016, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
A "cold front will move through Christmas morning," the NWS said in a forecast issued Christmas Eve. "This will reinforce the dry conditions and clear skies for Christmas Day and Christmas Night."
Sunday's high temperature is expected to be around 47 degrees, the NWS said.

“Whereas this is not that cold by December standards, it will be much cooler than last Christmas,” when NYC lived through its warmest Dec. 25 on record in the upper 60s, AccuWeather meteorologist Elliot Abrams noted.
If you're traveling anywhere outside the main urban areas of NYC early Sunday morning, you should even keep an eye out for black ice that may have formed overnight, the NWS said.
