NYC Weather Forecast: Flood Watch Ahead Of 'Heavy' Rain, Thunderstorms

NEW YORK, NY — Did you get a chance to get outside Wednesday, when the sun shone, temperatures crested the 60-degree mark and it finally felt like spring had arrived? We hope so, because today's going to be awful.

New York City and the surrounding areas continue to be under a flood watch ahead of nasty thunderstorms that are forecasted to bring up to two inches of rain that could pour all day. The National Weather Service also issued coastal flood warnings for the water-facing parts of the city.

The service warned of "flooding of the most vulnerable shore roads and/or basements due to height of storm tide or wave splashover." It said the "majority of roads" will "remain passable with only isolated closures."

"There is no significant threat to life and any impact on property is minimal," the service added.
