NYC Weather Forecast: Flood Worries As Storms Bring Inch Of Rain

More rain is expected to hit overnight and through Friday.

NEW YORK, NY – Don't let Thursday morning's sunshine fool you – the rain is coming back with a vengeance.

Storms are forecast to roll back into the city Thursday night, bringing with them drenching rains that will soak the city through Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Before the bad weather rolls out of the city up to an inch of rain is expected to fall, causing flooding concerns as the ground has already been soaked by two days of heavy rain. The NWS has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the region.

The weekend is expected to give New Yorkers a chance to dry out, with sunshine and temperatures in the 70s forecast.

Thursday
A chance of sprinkles before 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 71. Northeast wind 8 to 10 mph.

Thursday Night
Rain, mainly after 1am. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 59. East wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday
Rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 1pm, then a chance of rain between 1pm and 3pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. High near 63. Northeast wind 9 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 63. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Northwest wind around 7 mph.
