NYC Weather Forecast: Rainy Mother's Day Ahead With Nor'easter Incoming
Here's the latest weekend forecast.
NEW YORK, NY — It's looking more and more likely that a nor'easter storm brewing off the Eastern seaboard will put a damper on Mother's Day plans, forecasters said Friday.
"Nor'easter" is the term used to describe heavy winds that develop off the coast. They usually happen during the winter and early spring months, but this one is going to hit in mid-May.
"Forecast models show a cold front stalling over the Tennessee Valley and Mid-Atlantic states late this week. Along this front, a storm system is forecast to develop Thursday before reorganizing off the Mid-Atlantic coast late Friday," according to the Capital Weather Gang.

"The storm is then expected to evolve into a nor’easter, intensifying and charging up the Northeast coast, spreading rain, heavy at times, from Washington to Boston."

That cold front is also why it's been so chilly — and rainy — lately. The National Weather Service noted the difference we've seen from April to May.
But what does that mean for this weekend?
The National Weather Service is predicting "heavy" rain that moves in late Friday night and into Saturday. By Sunday, things won't be as bad, but "lingering showers" will make it tough to do anything without a roof over your head.
Expect a healthy 1.75 to 2.50 inches of rain over the weekend, forecasters said.
