NEW YORK, NY — New Yorkers could be in for some nasty weather the weekend following Thanksgiving, according to a National Weather Service forecast.

Snow and rain are likely to hit the city Sunday morning, with about a 60 percent chance of precipitation, the weather service predicts. Don't expect a pretty white coating on the city, as the precipitation will be mostly rain after 9 a.m Sunday, according to the NWS.

Depending on the amount of snowfall, New York could be in for some slushy streets.

The first snow of the season hit New York City on Nov. 12. Even though forecasts predicted less than 1 inch to accumulate, city officials prepared for a blizzard. The city didn't want to be caught off guard after a November 2018 storm, predicted as flurries, slammed the city with 6 inches of snow and wreaked havoc across the city.
