NYC Weather Forecast: Rain To Soak City Over Next 2 Days

NEW YORK, NY — Keep that umbrella ready — nearly three-quarters of an inch of rain is expected to soak New York City over the next two days, according to the latest National Weather Service forecast.

The bulk of the showers will hit throughout Wednesday, accompanied by a chance of thunder in the morning and afternoon, the forecast shows.

"Heavy downpours will be possible at times" in the showers hitting the tri-state region, the weather service says. It'll be cooler than usual in the city, with an expected steady temperature around 76 degrees.

Rain remains likely through Thursday morning and a chance of showers will loom into that evening, according to the forecast. Cloudy skies and a high near 85 are expected that day.

New Yorkers will get a break from the wet weather overnight before another chance of thunderstorms looms over Friday, the forecast shows.

Thursday
Showers likely, mainly before noon. Cloudy, with a high near 85. West wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday Night
A 30 percent chance of showers before 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph.

Friday
A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after noon. Increasing clouds, with a high near 88. Light south wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning.
