NYC Weather Forecast: Hour-By-Hour As Summer Nor'Easter Moves In

NEW YORK, NY — New York City is likely to face several days of thunderstorms as a summer nor'easter prepares to move in on the city later Friday night, according to forecasters.

The National Weather Service predicts that New York City will probably get drenched by an off-season nor'easter on Friday and Saturday, which will likely bring heavy rain and winds.

"It now appears likely we should see an out of season nor'easter late Friday night into Saturday, with heavy rain and gusty winds expected, especially along the coast, and in and near New York City," the National Weather Service said in a forecast. Nor'easters are typically associated with strong winter storms that can bring heavy snow.

"If this were winter time, the winter storm watches would be going up!" writes Joe Cioffi, a meteorologist for WPIX-TV and FiOS1 News.

The NWS has already issued a hazardous weather outlook for the city, cautioning that the heavy rain that's coming to Long Island on Friday and Saturday could end up covering NYC as well.
