NYC Weather Forecast: Temps Could Feel Like Almost 100 Degrees

The city will be under a heat advisory until Tuesday evening.

NEW YORK, NY — This week's weather is here to remind you that summer isn't over. Monday in New York City could feel like nearly 100 degrees as a likely heat wave rolls on, according to the National Weather Service.

The five boroughs will be under a heat advisory until 8 p.m. Tuesday as heat index values climb into the upper 90s. New Yorkers, especially seniors and those with chronic health problems or mental health conditions, should keep cool in air-conditioned spaces, the weather service says.

The sweltering temperatures will continue the hot streak that began Sunday, when the mercury got as high as 91 degrees in Central Park.

Things will cool slightly, but not much, as rain threatens the city later in the week, according to the weather service. A chance of thunderstorms will roll in Tuesday afternoon and linger into Thursday, but the temperature could still near 90 on Wednesday before dipping into the upper 80s on Thursday, the forecast shows.

Sunny skies and a high near 88 are expected Friday before more storms threaten over the weekend, according to the forecast.
