NYC Weather Forecast: Memorial Day Plans Could Be Affected By Thunderstorms

NEW YORK, NY — Forecasters say there is a decent chance for thunderstorms on Monday, which could put a damper on any outdoor Memorial Day plans you may have.

Showers are expected to taper off this morning, with clear skies most of the day Friday. Things start to darken later in the day Saturday and into Sunday.

Monday's forecast "depends on how quickly the same weather system mentioned above progresses east," weather.com writes. "Our forecast right now indicates that a cold front will be moving through portions of the East on Memorial Day, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms to the Northeast, portions of the mid-Atlantic and into the South."

A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. Southeast wind 3 to 7 mph.

Sunday

A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. East wind 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday Night

A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57.

Memorial Day

A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Monday Night

A chance of thunderstorms before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
