NYC Weather Forecast: 'Torrential' Rain To Kick Off Wet Weekend
More than two inches of rain could drench the city by Monday morning.

NEW YORK, NY — Brunch better be worth it to go out in this weather. Heavy rain could soak New York City on Friday and Saturday, potentially creating flash floods to kick off a wet weekend that's expected to bring more than two inches of rain to Central Park by early Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
The weather service warned of possible "torrential downpours" Friday night into Saturday with rain falling at a rate of one to two inches an hour as thunderstorms hit the metropolitan area. The heavy showers pose a "localized threat" of flash flooding, the weather service says.
Clouds will gather throughout Friday before the first chance of storms threatens in the evening, according to the weather service. The showers will pick up early Saturday morning, with more than an inch of rain expected to hit Central Park by that evening, the forecast shows.
