NYC Weather: Lingering Rain Will Soak City Into Weekend

NEW YORK CITY — Get used to rain in your lives for a few more days, New Yorkers.

Rain will continue to soak the city into Friday, take a daylong break and return Sunday to round out the weekend, according to the National Weather Service's forecast.

"Chance of precipitation is 100%," the forecast states for Thursday evening.

New Yorkers have already seen rain this week, and the prolonged wet weather likely will clear up the last lingering piles of slushy snow from recent wintry blasts.

Thursday will see rain mainly before 1 p.m. with relatively balmy highs of 51 degrees, before the raindrops return, the forecast states.

Up to a half inch of rain could fall Thursday night, according to the forecast.

Friday's showers are also expected to taper about 1 p.m. that day, the forecast states.

Rain will stay away until Saturday evening and fully return Sunday, which carries a 90 percent chance of precipitation, the National Weather Service's forecast states.
