NYC Weather: Major Storm Super Soaker Looms After Paltry Weekend Snow
New York City is now nearly 700 days without an inch of snow — and a super soaker of rain is on the horizon Tuesday.
NEW YORK CITY — Get ready for a super soaker, New York City.
A strong storm will blow into the city Tuesday and dump to 2 to 3 inches or more of rain across the boroughs, along with wind gusts up to 60 mph, according to the National Weather Service's forecast.
The city is under a hazardous weather outlook and flood watch Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning.

"There will be potential for widespread flooding, including flash flooding with nearly saturated grounds going into Tuesday night, allowing for excessive runoff," the outlook states.
A major storm system late Tuesday into Wednesday will bring the potential for flooding rainfall, strong to damaging winds, moderate to locally major coastal flooding, and major shoreline impacts. #NYwx #CTwx #NJwx

The expected rain will follow another major storm this past weekend that brought snowflakes to New York City, but failed to break the city's now nearly 700-day streak without snow of an 1 inch or more.

Just 0.2 inches of snow fell on Central Park Saturday, according to records.
The city is likely to cross the 700-day mark, tweeted New York Metro Weather.
"This is the longest such streak (by a lot) since records began in 1869," the tweet states.
Here's the National Weather Service's forecast, as of Monday morning.
Monday
Sunny, with a high near 43. Northwest wind 7 to 11 mph.
Monday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 33. West wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Tuesday
Rain, mainly after 1pm. High near 52. East wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Tuesday Night
Rain, with thunderstorms also possible after 1am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Temperature rising to around 55 by 2am. Windy, with a southeast wind 23 to 31 mph becoming south after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 49 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Wednesday
A 30 percent chance of rain before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 45 by 3pm. Breezy, with a west wind 17 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph.
