NYC Weather: Major Winter Storm Threatens Snow This Week
The city's nearly two-year snow drought could finally be at an end, forecasters said.
NEW YORK CITY — An old friend could be coming back to New York City for the first time in nearly two years: snow.
A major winter storm late this week is poised to break the city's record-setting nearly 700-day snowless streak, AccuWeather reported.
Whether the storm ends the city's snow drought will depend on its track and strength, but a general 6 to 12 inches could hit across the East Coast if conditions are right, according to AccuWeather.

"The effects of the warmer ocean water could help contribute to a sharp variation in snowfall totals as you go from places like Central Park in New York City and Center City Philadelphia outward towards the suburbs," said Courtney Travis, a senior meteorologist for AccuWeather, in a report by the service.
"The most significant wintry effects from the storm will be limited to about 12 hours or so from late Saturday into Sunday evening."
