NYC Weather: Memorial Day Weekend Looks Warm, Mostly Sunny

NEW YORK — The unofficial start of summer is looking pretty summery. New Yorkers will see a warm and mostly sunny Memorial Day weekend despite a chance of thunderstorms on Saturday, the National Weather Service says.

Friday will bring clear skies and a high temperature near 75 degrees, the forecast shows, creating perfect conditions for leaving work early.

Saturday will feel similarly, but a roughly 40 percent chance of rain will loom that night into the early hours of Sunday morning, according to the weather service. Some thunder may accompany the showers.

But the skies will eventually clear Sunday as the mercury rises to a warmer-than-usual high near 85, the forecast says. Monday will bring ideal parade and cookout weather with more sunshine and a high near 80, the weather service predicts.

But another chance of showers could get the short work week off to a gloomy start on Tuesday, the forecast shows.
