NEW YORK — It's looking like a snowy start to March. More flakes could fall overnight following a slick Thursday morning commute, the National Weather Service says.

More than half an inch of snow may hit Central Park from around 1 a.m. Friday morning to midday, the weather service's forecast shows.

That would likely make for a wet Friday morning rush hour. But commuters should also use caution Thursday morning as overnight snow and "freezing drizzle" have made for slippery conditions around the tri-state region, the weather service says.

Temperatures will rise to a high near 39 degrees on both Thusday and Friday, with wind chills making it feel as cold as the 20s, according to the weather service.

Some rain could follow Friday's snow starting early that afternoon, the forecast shows. But snowfall may restart in the evening, potentially blanketing Central Park in another 0.8 inches by midday Saturday, according to the weather service.
