NEW YORK CITY — The remnants of Tropical Storm Ophelia just won't leave New York City so quickly.

Expect the weekend's wet weather to extend into the work week, forecasters warned.

"Ophelia is expected to further lose wind and rain intensity into the day on Monday, but a damp, dreary and cold start to the week can still be expected in places like New York City," an AccuWeather report states.

Monday carries a 90 percent chance of rain, with temperatures expected to hold steady at 59 degrees, according to the National Weather Service's forecast.

The city is also under a hazardous weather outlook that warns of flash flooding and coastal flooding in Manhattan.

New Yorkers can be forgiven if that forecast sounds familiar: it's largely identical to what they experienced over the weekend as Tropical Storm Ophelia made landfall in North Carolina and brought widespread rain across the Atlantic coast.

Central Park saw roughly an inch of rain both on Saturday and Sunday, according to National Weather Service records.

And while Ophelia weakened to a tropical depression over the weekend, it continued to move slowly over the coast Monday, meaning New York City and other communities will see more of the same, AccuWeather reported.

Conditions are expected to dry out after noon Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service's forecast.
