NEW YORK — Staten Island Chuck's prediction of an early spring isn't looking so good. More snow could fall this week as unseasonably frigid temperatures freeze New York City, the National Weather Service says.

The mercury will reach a high near 28 degrees on Wednesday and dip to a low around 19 at night, with a slight chance of flakes in the late afternoon, according to the weather service.

Another slight chance of snow looms Thursday afternoon, though that day won't be much warmer with a high near 33, the weather service says. That's far colder than the normal high for that day of 47 degrees.
