NYC Weather: Thunderstorms To Drench With Half Inch Of Rain

NEW YORK, NY – Severe thunderstorms are set to pound the city yet again Tuesday, drenching it with up to half an inch of rain and prompting a hazardous weather outlook to the be issued.

The National Weather Service warned the bad weather is set to arrive late afternoon and into Tuesday night.

"Showers and possible thunderstorms late this afternoon and evening could produce locally heavy rainfall and minor urban flooding," NWS forecasters said.

"There is also a marginal risk for flash flooding."

It's the latest in a string of heavy storms that have hit the city in recent weeks. Last week, a day of heavy rainfall caused subway stations to suffer flooding.

The rain should stop before 2 a.m. Wednesday, with the rest of the week looking mainly sunny and unseasonably warm.

A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. South wind around 11 mph.

Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Southwest wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Northwest wind 6 to 9 mph.

Partly cloudy, with a low around 63. North wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
