NYC Weather: Tornadoes, Hail Could Hit As Storms Approach City
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook.

NEW YORK CITY — Strong storms which could bring tornadoes are taking aim at New York City Wednesday and Thursday, the National Weather Service said. A hazardous weather outlook has been issued.
Large hail, damaging winds and drenching rain are expected to hit late Wednesday. Up to half an inch of rain is possible.
Another quarter of an inch of rain is possible Thursday night, mainly before 10 p.m.

Any tornadoes that occur are expected to be weak, the NWS said.
The storms follow a heat wave that has seen temperatures in the 90s for the past four days.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 5pm. Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Wednesday Night
Showers and thunderstorms likely before 3am, then a slight chance of showers between 3am and 5am. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds, gusty winds, and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 76. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Thursday
A slight chance of showers between 9am and 1pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 88. Light southwest wind increasing to 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Thursday Night
Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7am, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. North wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
