Here are the top five stories today in New York City:

  1. NYCHA public housing CEO Greg Russ is stepping down to be replaced temporarily by Lisa Bova-Hiatt, Mayor Eric Adams announced on Thursday. The news comes after tests found arsenic in the water supply at a NYCHA development–although the tests were later reported to have been incorrect. Russ will remain as NYCHA's board chair. 2. Survivors of 9/11 are urging New York City to break its contract with the Trump Organization at a golf course in The Bronx, which is due to hold a Saudi Arabian-backed tournament next month. But spokespeople for Mayor Adams' administration said that doing so could potentially cost the city millions. (New York City Patch)
  3. New York Attorney General Letitia James rejected to settle with Donald Trump over her office's probe into the Trump Organization, making it increasingly likely that a high-profile fraud lawsuit is on its way. “We will continue to follow the facts of this case and ensure that no one can evade the law,” said James. (New York City Patch)
  4. An NYC real estate giant, Related Companies, is teaming up with a Las Vegas gambling business to publicly announce the first bid to open a casino in New York City's Hudson Yards. State lawmakers this spring approved up to three casinos in the NYC area. It's still several months until we'll know for sure where those casinos will be located. (Subscription: The New York Times)
  5. Garage owners in Manhattan below 60th Street are concerned that congestion pricing – the MTA's plan to place new tolls on cars entering the island's Central Business District – could put them out of business, and could overflow garages in residential neighborhoods outside of the zone.
