  1. One third of apartments listed for rent in New York City were previously occupied by tenants that were recently priced out, a new study from Street Easy found. Many of those units had received pandemic-era rental discounts, which have recently come surging back. (New York City Patch)
  2. A new $8 million public-private partnership, the Homeless Assistance Fund, will pay for 100 workers to conduct outreach to homeless people in places across the city previously difficult to access for NYC employees, such as banks, stores, and ATM vestibules. (New York City Patch)
  3. Thanks to a one-time loophole, New Yorkers can change their political party registration through the August 23 Congressional and State Senate primary. Since voter turn out is expected to be low, there's a potential for members of minority parties–such as Republicans in a majority Democratic district–to sway primary results. (Gothamist)
  4. Speaking of elections, roughly 86,500 NYC voters will have a different polling site in the August primary than they did in June. That's partially due to some spaces such as schools not being available, and more than one million residents that were eligible in June not being able to vote two months later. (THE CITY)
  5. NYC surpassed 1,000 monkeypox cases on Monday, up from 600 last week. Meanwhile the World Health Organization declared the outbreak to be a "public health emergency." (New York City Patch)
