NYPD Cop Killed In Long Island Crash, Police Say
The off-duty officer's car hit a tree after it collided with another vehicle in Lynbrook on Wednesday, Long Island police said.

NEW YORK — An NYPD cop was killed in a car crash on Long Island on his way to work Wednesday morning, authorities said. Nassau County police identified the off-duty cop as 31-year-old Vincent Persaud.
The officer and another driver were involved in a crash at the intersection of Peninsula Boulevard and Hempstead Avenue at 6:48 a.m. in Lynbrook, police there said. Lynbrook police say that the officer's car went off the road and hit a tree.
The cop was taken to Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Valley Stream, where he died from his injuries. The other driver was not seriously hurt.

Police say the incident is still under investigation, but do not suspect any criminality at this time.
The NYPD said the officer was heading to work but did not name the precinct.
