NEW YORK CITY — An off-duty NYPD officer was arrested in Queens, Thursday morning for allegedly for sending obscene material to a minor.

Travis Desouza, 35, has been charged with disseminating indecent material to minors, endangering the welfare of a child and obscenity, an NYPD spokesperson confirmed.

In October 2024, Desouza caught trying to strike up a sexual conversation with an undercover officer he thought was a 14-year-old girl, according to the New York Daily News.

DeSouza, a 13-year-old NYPD veteran assigned to Brooklyn's 75th Precinct, was working with the Police Explorers program for young people between 14 and 20 interested in law enforcement at the time.
