- A man stabbed an NYPD officer in the hand before being shot on Thursday during an altercation in Coney Island. It began when a cop approached the suspect for obstructing traffic with his SUV. (New York City Patch)
- Over 500 laid-off Marriott hotel workers are set to receive $3 million in severance pay that was withheld from them, Attorney General Letitia James announced. The workers had staged a mass-protest over one year ago, prompting her investigation. (New York City Patch)
- Thursday, New York City launched a $6.5 million universal college fund for thousands of kindergarteners in public and some charter schools. The students will each have $100 invested in an account in their name, which city officials hope will help reduce their expenses later down the line. (Gothamist)
- Anna Torres, 51, the mother of an NYPD officer was shot dead on Wednesday afternoon, after the killer, identified as Giuseppe Canzani, 41, knocked on her door. It did not initially appear the shooting was tied to the victim's son being a cop. (New York City Patch)
- Mayor Adams' approval rating is on the decline, according to a new poll, that found crime to be the most important issue for most New Yorkers. Fifty-four percent of city residents disapprove of his handling of the issue, the same poll found, while 53% approved of his response to COVID-19. (New York City Patch)
