  1. Just five asylum seekers were living in New York City's massive new 'tent-city' that's meant to house up to 500 recently arrived migrants, The New York Post reported. "They don't hope for an accident, but they better be prepared for one," Mayor Eric Adams said during an interview. (New York City Patch)
  2. New York City's unemployment rate fell in September from 6.6 percent to 5.6 percent. The city added 262,000 jobs in the past year, outpacing the rest of the state. (New York City Patch)
  3. Community groups in the Lower East Side and Chinatown announced a lawsuit on Friday to try and prevent the construction of three 60 to 80-story towers in the Two Bridges neighborhoods, using New York State's newly enacted constitutional right to “clean air and water, and a healthful environment.” (THE CITY)
  4. An Upstate New York federal judge sided with the GOP, ruling that several of the state's recently enacted absentee voting reforms are unconstitutional, including the ability to "canvass" or ensuring absentee ballots are inspected for counting before Election Day. State Senate and Assembly Democrats have already appealed the ruling. (Gothamist)
  5. "Late, Late Show" host James Corden is once again banned from Balthazar, a restaurant in Soho, over his alleged mistreatment of staff. That's after restauranteur Keith McNally read a New York Times article about the incident in which Corden denied the "egg-yolk omelet drama." (New York City Patch)
