Rapper 6ix9ine Could Get NY Jail Time For Making Sex Tapes
Prosecutors also want the rainbow-haired rapper from Bushwick to register as a sex offender.
NEW YORK, NY — Rainbow-haired rap star 6ix9ine will be headed for prison if Manhattan prosecutors get their way. The Manhattan District Attorney's Office asked a judge last week to put the "GUMMO" artist behind bars for up to three years and force him to register as a sex offender for creating sex tapes with a teenager.
In an Aug. 3 letter noting his successful music career and self-professed gang ties, Assistant District Attorney Sara Weiss said the Bushwick-born rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, violated the terms of his October 2015 guilty plea to use of a child in a sexual performance.
Hernandez "has had over two years to demonstrate to this Court that the role he played in the sexual exploitation of a thirteen-year-old child was an aberration in his otherwise law abiding life," Weiss wrote. "He has failed to do so."

The charge stemmed from Hernandez's role in making videos of the teen having "sexual contact" with adult men and sharing them on his social media accounts, the letter says.
The plea agreement put off Hernandez's sentencing for two years, giving him a chance to avoid prison if he didn't commit any new crimes in that time. But he was charged for allegedly assaulting a teen in Texas in January of this year and injuring a cop in Brooklyn in May, the letter says.

While the recent alleged crimes happened after the original two-year window, Hernandez was still bound to the terms of his plea agreement because he was still awaiting sentencing at the time of his arrests, a spokesman for the DA’s office said.
Weiss asked that Hernandez be sentenced as an adult to one to three years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 2, the DA's office said — soon after he's slated to go on tour with fellow rappers Nicki Minaj and Future. Hernandez and Minaj recently released a song together titled "FEFE."
