NEW YORK CITY — A retired FDNY chief will reportedly plead guilty to charges in connection to an alleged corruption probe, where he and another fire official accepted around $190,000 in bribes to speed up safety inspections.
Prosecutors said in court filings filed on Monday that Brian Cordasco will plead guilty to conspiracy to solicit and receive a bribe, according to a CBS News report.
On Sept. 16, Cordasco and Anthony Saccavino were both charged with bribery, corruption and false statements offenses, according to federal prosecutors.

The two chiefs, with the FDNY Bureau of Fire Prevention, "repeatedly abused their positions of trust as high-ranking officials in the New York City Fire Department,"according to an indictment.
In their positions, they would regulate the installation of fire safety and suppression systems in commercial and residential buildings.

They would accept bribes payments in exchange for preferential treatment to certain individuals and companies, according to the report.
For nearly two years, Saccavino and Cordasco misused this authority for their own financial gain,” per the indictment.
The two retired chiefs had their homes raided by the FBI and city investigators back in February.
They allegedly tried to lie to federal authorities in an attempt to cover up their scheme, according to a New York Post report.
