- Police are searching for a suspect in a deadly Jamaica, Queens shooting on Saturday, that took the life of a 48-year-old man. Queens has seen 55 shootings so far this year, compared to 44 at the same time in 2021. (amNY)
- Climate change activists began a roughly 200 mile bike ride from New York City to Albany on Saturday morning. The ride will culminate in a rally at the state's capitol next week, as the activists urge the state to pass a set of bills to combat the climate crisis, saying legislators didn't got nearly far enough during the recent budget process. (Gothamist)
- The festive easter parade returned Sunday in its full glory, for the first time since 2019, with hundreds of New Yorkers adorning elaborate outfits for the occasion as they marched along 5th Avenue past St. Patrick's Cathedral. (amNY)
- The rent guidelines board, which every year makes a recommendation as to how much rents should be increased in New York City's almost one million rent-regulated apartments, suggests there should be increases of between two and nine percent. Across the city, rent is skyrocketing in market rate apartments, leading to a flurry of evictions. (THE CITY)
- New York City still lacks a comprehensive plan for addressing flooding and evacuations after both Hurricane Sandy and storm Ida. Officials are waiting on the release of a federal government report that isn't due to be finished for another several years. In the meantime, low-lying and heavily populated costal areas, such as Coney Island and The Rockaways, don't have the increased drainage capacity they would require to be better equipped. (Gothamist)
