A fundraiser has been created on Fundthefirst.com to support the family of John Fanelli as they grieve his sudden and tragic loss. John leaves behind his beloved wife, Kim, and their four children who range in age from 5 to 17 years old.

John served others as part of the New York Fire Department for 22 years—19 as a firefighter and 3 as an EMT—before retiring. He was one of the first responders who bravely helped others during the 9/11 attacks. John also served on the Massapequa Fire Department for 12 years, reaching the rank of Lieutenant.

Those closest to John have said, “Being a firefighter wasn't what John did, it was who he was,” and they remember how he selflessly touched many lives. Unfortunately, his years of service helping the communities he loved led to the health issues he succumbed to on March 4, 2023.

We urge you to visit Fundthefirst.com to show John’s family your support. Donate Now, to thank John for all his years of service and to help his family through these difficult times.
