Special Weather Statement Issued As Winds Pound NYC

Sundy might be a day for staying indoors.

NEW YORK, NY – The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement for New York City:

Northwest winds will increase to 20 to 25 mph with gusts of 30 to 40 mph today. Some wind gusts could reach up to 45 mph.

With trees still partially to full foliage, these higher wind gusts could take down some tree limbs or small trees and hence may cause some power outages.

The temperatures will be below normal Sunday too, with a high of about 46 and a wind chill significantly lower.

Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a steady temperature around 46. Breezy, with a northwest wind 14 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph.
