NEW YORK CITY — A person on the tracks and other subway hiccups caused a slow start for many New Yorkers' workweeks, according to MTA alerts.

Delays hit at least eight subway lines Monday morning, transit officials said.

N, Q, R and W trains ran slow in both directions as NYPD officers responded to an unauthorized person on the tracks near the 57th Street-Seventh Avenue station, an MTA post states.

Trains along the 1, 2 and 3 lines saw "severe delays" in both directions after medics responded to someone on a train in Chambers Street who needed medical attention, officials said.

Regular service resumed for 2 and 3 trains headed south, but MTA officials urged straphangers to consider alternatives as the lines got back on schedule. Those alternatives are:

  • A, B, C, D and E trains for service in Manhattan
  • 4, 5, B, D, N, Q and R trains for service between Brooklyn and Manhattan

And A and C trains ran with delays in both directions, an MTA post states.
