Why do you believe the teacher should be recognized or honored?

Lauren teaches the brilliant students at Stuyvesant High School. Lauren is one of the most popular and effective teachers at Stuyvesant, and always creates a safe space for discussion, encourages thoughtful analysis of text, helps students relate complex texts to modern life and teaches them how analyze and read all kinds of literature. In addition, Lauren is very involved in the school and has been the advisor for countless clubs, stays late all the time to talk to students, help them deal with problems, gives advice, etc. Students who are not in Lauren's classes will "sit in" (often literally on the floor) during their lunch or free periods just to listen to a class lesson. Lauren is truly a unique teacher, mentor and guide for all students at Stuyvesant HS.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the teacher?

Lauren cares deeply for all of the students at Stuyvesant High School in terms of their education and their well being, mental health and overall success and happiness in life. This attitude is reflected every day in Lauren's approach to classes, students and even a casual walk through the halls.
