Rescue Crews Search for Missing Girl In Waters Off Roosevelt Island

NEW YORK CITY — A 15-year-old girl is reported missing Friday in the East River off Roosevelt Island, according to police and reports.

Officers responded to the vicinity of 688 Main Street on Roosevelt Island after getting a call of a teen in the water around 12:15 p.m.

Emergency personnel and NYPD searched the waters for several hours before the search was called off to due to weather conditions.

The teen is feared to have drown and it's unclear if she fell or jumped into the water.

According to a CBS News report, a witness told police that the 15-year-old went into the water and never came out.
