Thousands Lose Power In These 2 Boroughs Amid Heave Wave: Con Ed
The National Weather Service has issued an "Extreme Heat Warning" in New York City from now until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

NEW YORK CITY — Extreme heat and close to triple-digit temperatures have knocked out power for thousands of customers in Queens and Staten Island on Monday, Con Edison said.
As of 4 p.m., nearly 4,000 customers in Queens have no electricity, according to Con Ed.
Earlier in the day, close to 8,000 customers had lost power in the borough. Power in the borough is expected to be restored around 9 p.m., according to the energy company's outage map.

Similarly, in Staten Island, more than 7,000 customers are without power.
In Brooklyn, 402 customers have no power. In The Bronx, close to 250 customers have lost power.

Manhattan only has 2 customers without power, according to the outage map.
Con Ed has urged residents in the city to avoid using energy-intensive appliances like washers, dryers and microwaves. They have asked residents to limit unnecessary use of air conditioning.
