NEW YORK CITY — Former President and Republican nominee Donald Trump is set to speak at the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation dinner in Manhattan Thursday night, following his visit to a Bronx barbershop earlier in the day.

The annual Catholic fundraiser has been held since 1946 and has raised millions of dollars for New York's women and children, according to the foundation's website.

The fundraiser has been attended by a number of presidential nominees over the years, according to organizers.

Vice President Kamala Harris has decided to skip the event in favor of campaigning in Wisconsin.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the Archbishop of New York, on his podcast, said he was "upset"that Harris was skipping the charity dinner.

"It's a shame because the nature of the evening is to bring people together. The nature of the evening is civility, patriotism, humor. It's not a campaign speech. It's not a campaign stop," he said.

Dolan argued that the evening is "reflective of New York demographics."

"It's not a Republican crowd. It's not a Democratic crowd," he said. "It's kind of evenly split."

Trump Appearance At Bronx Barbershop

Trump on Thursday afternoon visited Javiel's Barberhsop in the Bronx.

In videos on social media, Trump received a round of applause from a packed room full of barbers and their clients.

“You all have good hair,” he said to the room.

The former president shook hands with clients as well as with the shop owner and his father.

Back in May, Trump held a campaign rally in the South Bronx.
