NEW YORK CITY — Former President Donald Trump should face $370 million in fines for unlawful conduct, as well as a lifetime ban from New York's real estate industry, argued Attorney General Letitia James in a new court filing.
The filing Friday in Trump's civil fraud case represents a significant escalation of penalties sought by James, who originally sought $250 million in fines.
The 103-page filing argues more evidence showed Trump, two of his adult children and his company executives benefited from illegal means.

"Defendants reaped hundreds of millions of dollars in ill-gotten gains through their unlawful conduct," it states.
Trump has argued, in often inaccurate terms, that the trial is a political witch hunt.

But, even before the trial started, Judge Arthur Engoron found Trump liable for fraudulently overstating his wealth. The upcoming verdict is over how many damages Trump and his companies face.
