Two Men Indicted For Separate NYC Stabbings Attacks In NYC Subway System: DA
Both attacks occurred in the New York City subway system.
NEW YORK CITY — Two men have been indicted in connection with separate incidents where women were attacked in the New York City subway system.
Brandon Balfour, 18, and Carlos Rivera, 24, are both facing attempted murder, assault charges in connection with two separate attacks in August. The 18-year-old has also been charged with two counts of robbery.
River was also charged with attempted assault.

Balfour is accused of attacking a 29-year-old woman on a northbound No. 3 train on Aug. 6 around 11 p.m. at the Wall Street subway station.
Balfour tried to take the victim's bag before slashing her on the arm and back. The 18-year-old took the woman's cellphone before fleeing the scene.

The 29-year-old woman was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue for treatment.
Rivera is accused of attacking and stabbing a 25-year-old woman in the torso as she walked down the stairs in the 23rd St./8th Av. subway station on Aug.5, prosecutors said.
The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
“As alleged, Brandon Balfour and Carlos Rivera committed separate, vicious attacks underground using weapons,” District Attorney Bragg said. “These horrifying acts of violence significantly injured two women, including one who needed life-saving surgery. Safety in our subways is paramount, and we will hold accountable those who bring weapons into our transit system and harm New Yorkers. I wish both victims full and speedy recoveries.”
An investigation remains ongoing.
