Upper West Side Fire Near Central Park Injures 6, FDNY Says

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A two-alarm fire in an Upper West Side building left six people injured Monday morning, the FDNY said.

The blaze on Columbus Avenue near West 84th Street was reported just after 7 a.m. and burned until firefighters got it under control about an hour later at 8:05 a.m., according to the FDNY.

The fire occurred in a store on the first floor of the five-story building, fire officials said. More than 100 firefighters and medics responded to the scene just a block from Central Park, a Fire Department spokesman said.

The six people hurt have minor injuries, the FDNY said. The cause of the blaze is under investigation, the department said.
