Video: Migrants, NYPD Square Off In Randall's Island Shelter
"We're going to do a review," Mayor Eric Adams said of a dramatic face off in which an NYPD officer was struck with a backpack.

NEW YORK CITY — NYPD officers squared off against an angry group of asylum seekers — including one who hurled a backpack at a cop — while they cuffed a man inside a Randall's Island migrant shelter, viral video shows.
The three-minute clip circulating online since last week prompted outrage as it echoed a controversial recent showdown between NYPD cops and migrants in Times Square.
Mayor Eric Adams said Tuesday that any "bad actors" shouldn't reflect on the overwhelming majority in the 3,000-person shelter who are just trying to take their next steps on their journeys.

The New York Post first reported that the incident unfolded Feb. 15 about 11 a.m. when cops dealt with a man causing a disturbance in the shelter and took him into custody.
Kaz Daughtry, the NYPD's deputy commissioner for operations, said during an unrelated news conference Tuesday that the incident has been "sealed," meaning that prosecutors had declined to pursue charges at this point.
An NYPD spokesperson didn't have additional information for Patch on the incident as of publication.
"This is what happens when you get this national problem on a city," Adams said.
