What’s Open, Closed For Thanksgiving 2023 In New York City?

Forget a stick of butter, milk or sugar for your Turkey Day preparations? These stores will be open to help:

NEW YORK CITY - Did you forget to buy a key ingredient for your famous Thanksgiving stuffing? Be thankful you live in The City That Never Sleeps, where most grocery stores remain open even on holidays.

Here's a look at what major supermarkets are open and closed on Thanksgiving Day in New York City for last-minute shoppers:

  • CVS Pharmacy: All non-24 hour locations will be closing early on Thanksgiving, the Associated Press reported. Check your local store hours here.
  • Duane Reade/Walgreens: Non-24 hour stores are closed on Thanksgiving.
  • Fairway Market: Stores will be open, but with earlier closing times than normal. The Upper West and Upper East Side locations will be open from 6 a.m to 8 p.m., but Chelsea and Kips Bay-dwellers will need to shop before 5 p.m.
  • Fresh Direct: FreshDirect will be making deliveries from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for those with scheduled deliveries. “In select areas, express delivery will be available for immediate, on-demand delivery Thanksgiving day,” the service’s website reads.
  • Key Food: Stores will be open but may have reduced hours, or differing closing times — call your local store to check.
  • Target Grocery: All stores are closed on Thanksgiving.
  • Trader Joe’s: All stores closed on Thanksgiving.
  • Wegmans: Wegmans is open until 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving, though department hours may differ.
  • Whole Foods: Most stores are open until 3 p.m. Check your local store hours here.
