NEW YORK CITY — A 28-year-old woman was slashed while waiting for a subway train in Midtown Tuesday, police said.

The incident happened inside the 50th Street subway station on a northbound C train platform around 3 a.m., FOX 5 NY reported.

The 28-year-old woman was standing on the platform when an unknown man approached and slashed her, police said.

The woman suffered a slash wound to the torso and was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, police said.

The suspect fled the scene.
