Woman Charged After Newborn Baby Found Abandoned Outside NYC Building

The woman has been charged with reckless endangerment and abandonment of a child.

NEW YORK CITY — A 26-year-old woman has been arrested and charged after she allegedly abandoned a newborn baby girl outside a New York City apartment building over the weekend, police said Tuesday.

Delfina Galvez has been charged with reckless endangerment and abandonment of a child, police said.

Police found the baby on Sunday around 6 a.m. outside 1102 Reverend James Polite Ave. in the Bronx. Officers responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call about a crying baby, Patch previously reported.

The infant was found wrapped in a blanket inside a tote bag.

The baby was transported to NYC Health and Hospital/Jacobi in stable condition, police said.
