NJ Woman Faces Attempted Murder Charge In Midtown Hit-And-Run: NYPD
Imani Lucas is accused of running a red light and hitting seven people, including an Italian tennis coach, according to police and reports.

NEW YORK CITY — A woman who rammed a car into seven pedestrians in a Midtown hit-and-run Sunday faces a slew of charges, including attempted murder, police said.
The suspected driver, Imani Lucas, 29, of New Jersey, was arrested late Monday after evaluation for what police believe was a mental health episode that sparked the rampage, according to authorities and the New York Post.
"It's in God's hands," Lucas told police when she was arrested, the Post reported.

Lucas faces seven counts of attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident causing serious injury and reckless driving, police said.
Police believe Lucas sped through a red light about 11:55 p.m. at West 36th Street and Sixth Avenue, and struck seven pedestrians on a crosswalk, police said and the Post reported.

The crash left six people hospitalized, including a 34-year-old tennis instructor from Italy, who suffered a spinal injury, La Voce di New York reported.
Lucas sped off through the Queens-Midtown Tunnel and was later taken into custody after she was involved in a second crash in Queens, according to police and reports.
