14-Year-Old Charged In Connection With School Bomb Threat

Ramapo police made the arrest after a four-month investigation of the threat against Suffern High School.

SUFFERN, NY — A 14-year-old faces two felony charges in connection with a bomb threat at Suffern High School in September.

On Sept. 21, a bomb threat at SHS prompted an evacuation and a coordinated response from multiple law enforcement agencies, Ramapo police said.

After an extensive, four-month investigation, the Ramapo Police Investigations Division arrested the 14-year-old on Monday.

The juvenile was charged with Making a Terroristic Threat (D-Felony) and Falsely Reporting an Incident 1st Degree (D-Felony). The juvenile was processed and released pending an appearance in Rockland County Family Court.

The Ramapo Police Department was assisted in the investigation by officers assigned to the FBI Task Force and the Suffern Police Department. RPD officials said they also appreciated the cooperation of the Suffern Central School District during the course of the investigation.

It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
