2 Arrested After Crime Spree In New Square: Ramapo Police

One is a county resident, the other is from out of state.

RAMAPO, NY — A Rockland resident and a man from Pennsylvania are accused of an overnight crime spree in February in New Square.

On Feb. 26, the Ramapo Police Department received multiple reports of larcenies from vehicles in the village.

Investigation revealed two people had entered many unoccupied vehicles in the overnight hours and stolen various items including US currency. Detectives also found the duo had unsuccessfully attempted to enter a residence.

By the evening, one suspect and the vehicle alleged to have been used in the crimes were located by the Rockland County Sheriff Office Patrol Division, police said.

Jorge Perez, 33, from Allentown, Pennsylvania was placed under arrest. He was arraigned in the
Village of Wesley Hills Court and turned over to the custody of the Rockland County Jail
on $25,000 bail, police said.

On Feb. 29, Fraimy Miguel Morel-Rojas, 26, of Suffern, was located by Ramapo Police detectives and placed under arrest. He was arraigned in the Town of Ramapo Court and turned over to the custody of the Rockland County Jail on $25,000 bail.

Both men face multiple charges: one count of Attempted Burglary 2nd Degree, 1 count of Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, multiple counts of Petit Larceny and multiple counts of Conspiracy 5th Degree and Conspiracy 6th Degree.

"We are grateful for the collaborative effort that took place between Ramapo patrol officers, Ramapo detectives, the Rockland Sheriff’s Department, New Square Emergency Services, and the Village of New Square Office of Emergency Management as well as our residents who provided video footage," New Square Mayor Israel Spitzer said in a news release. "Every inch of our Village is under video surveillance, and we have a zero-tolerance policy on crimes against our residents. We thank G-d for keeping our Village residents safe and for the partnership that we have with local law enforcement."

"I want to commend the Ramapo police officers and detectives for their outstanding work in investigating these crimes and swiftly arresting the suspects," Ramapo Town Supervisor Michael Specht said in the same news release. "The safety of all our residents throughout the Town remains our top priority. Thank you to our partners in law enforcement and the Village of New Square for working with RPD to successfully conclude this investigation."
