2013 "Apples" Poker Run A Winner All Around

The Apples Poker Run raised a record of almost $9,000 from almost 300 participants

 

The 2013 "Apples" Poker Run held in downtown New City raised close to $9,000 for the Rebuild Hi-Tor Animal Shelter campaign from a record number of 300 participants.  The three hour event on Sunday started at Doyler & Dunneys on South Main Street and the teams of four players made their way to each of the four other participating restaurants: Kumo, The Club House, The Castle Inn, and La Terrazza where the captain collected their cards in sealed envelopes. The teams were required to purchase at least one beverage at each establishment.

Elaine Apfelbaum has organized the Apples Poker Run each of the past several years selecting a different charity to benefit. Don Franchino, chair of Rebuild Hi-Tor, thanked everyone for his or her participation and generosity this year. The teams with the winning poker hands were:

  • First place went to Erin Riedel, Chris Mantz, Dana Paolino and Sally Veltdi with four “9s”
  • Second place went to Michelle Koblick, Theresa Sullivan, Gail Gisonni and Irene Clark with a straight
  • Third Place went to Annamarie Dari, Mike Dari, Bill Pollack and Sue Pezzetti with three kings
