Actress Carmen Gloria Pérez In Netflix Series A Storm For Christmas
Actress, producer and filmmaker Carmen Gloria Pérez portrays Thea in the Netflix Mini-Series directed by Per-Olav Sørensen.
Actress, writer, and filmmaker Carmen Gloria Pérez , known for her role as Linda on the popular, award-winning Netflix series, Young Royals, portrays Thea, the security officer in A Storm for Christmas which premieres worldwide December 16th on Netflix. The TV Series is directed by Per-Olav Sørensen.
As described on IMDb, A Storm for Christmas is about “a group of people who arrive at Oslo airport; some to welcome their loved ones, some to fly home to their families, and others who want to fly away and escape Christmas.”
Pérez states, “What I enjoyed the most about working as an actress on the set of A Storm for Christmas is working with director Per-Olav Sørensen. He is a great friend, and he gave all of us (as actors) just the right amount of direction and care. Per-Olav has a great vision, not only for film and TV, but for the kind of projects that he chooses to put out into the world, to include his commitment to a diverse cast. Everyone was great to work with and especially while working during Covid times at the airport, where we had to get tested every single day and dealing with challenges related to the pandemic. As a result we became a tighter team and it shows in the production. It was truly a special time and experience - it felt surreal at times.”

Pérez describes her character Thea as the airport security officer, working alongside other airport employees, such as Ronja - the priest, and Henrik - the handler. They are also affected by the storm, in that they have to work extra long hours to help the Gardermoen Airport (the true star of the show) get through it. Thea & Crew were the ‘calm within the storm’, chaos-handlers, who maintain control over a situation, as well as being a compassionate force for others. Pérez states, “I loved this character because even while putting her time and needs aside for work, she ensures her personal life is solid too. These characters thrive by helping and guiding others through their journeys - and being there for everyone at Gardermoen.”
Pérez was born in The Bronx, New York and moved to Puerto Rico as a young child. She is now based in Norway, after moving there five years ago, learning the language and immersing herself in the lifestyle. “I thought acting jobs for a Latina woman were likely going to be few (as they still were in the US back then), so I worked a lot on my writing. Yet, shortly after my plane landed, I had my first audition, which I booked, thanks to dear friend Aleksander Herresthal at Seefood TV. They were specifically looking for a woman with either a Spanish or an Italian background. So the first year I was in Norway, I was working with one of the top companies and comedy actors such as Espen Eckbo. I’m grateful for those who’ve given me the opportunities I’ve had.”

Growing up in poverty and government assistance, Pérez believes it is at a young age where we should “nourish children to dream big and to believe in possibilities outside of their immediate surroundings, so they can become the best they can be. What matters to me is that kids (and grown-ups) are inspired towards greatness, especially those who have little resources and who have had many challenges in life; whether it be poverty, or any form of injustice. I hope I can do this through art and storytelling.” Pérez wrote and published a series of children’s books - the Kid Astronomy Series, creating something that would be accessible to all kids, to encourage them to think outside the box, to dream big, and to maybe pursue some of the fastest growing careers, in STEAM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math).
In addition to being a talented force in television and film, Carmen Gloria Pérez is a U.S. Army Veteran. Pérez separated honorably from the service as a Sergeant (E-5) after six years of active duty earning several awards. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Government & International Politics, with a minor in Legal Studies from George Mason University. Months before graduating, Pérez signed up for a weekend acting class and fell in love with it. After graduation, she drove cross-country to Hollywood to pursue a career in acting and the arts.
Tune into Netflix to watch A Storm for Christmas on Friday, December 16th to watch this heartfelt, timely series. Carmen Gloria Pérez concludes, “I think the audience will feel a sense of warmth and a heart-felt familiarity watching this mini-series. It taps into a little bit of loneliness, illness, family issues, romance and other topics. Each character goes through a journey while stuck in one place, where the world seems to go ‘on hold’, and they are forced to go within and reflect. It’s one of my favorite projects I’ve worked on so far.”
